Wrinkles from mimics are best removed with botulinum toxin A, a protein produced by bacteria.
The injection of ‘botox’ into the facial muscles inhibits the transmission of nerve impulses, which trigger contraction of the muscles and thus cause “mimic wrinkles”.
The movement of the muscles is completely or only slightly inhibited, depending on the dosage.
A treatment consists of two sessions held at an interval of about one week. Botulinum toxin A acts for 3-4 months, after which the muscle power restores itself and the wrinkles return. With good tolerability, repetitions are possible unlimited times.
